Nano Banana 2 Lite, backed by Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image, is Google's speed-and-cost tier for image generation and editing through the Vertex-compatible OneHop route. It takes text and image input and returns an image with optional text, at roughly 4 seconds per 1K image. Google positions it as the upgrade path for anyone still on the original Nano Banana. It renders at the 1K size only, and is not tuned for many reference images or long multi-turn editing sessions — reach for Nano Banana 2 or Nano Banana Pro when you need those.
